Susan CollinsDr SUSAN COLLINS 

Susan Collins is currently Head of Strings at the University of Newcastle. She holds a Master of Music degree from Indiana University at Bloomington and, in 2005, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Creative Arts through the University of Wollongong.
From 1992 until 2001 she held the position of Deputy Concertmaster with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. Throughout these years Susan acted regularly as Concertmaster for the AOBO, and as Guest Concertmaster with many professional orchestras around Australia. She has appeared as soloist and recitalist throughout Australia, the USA, and in Europe, and has recorded for ABC FM, 2MBS and 3MBS FM radio stations
In 2003 Susan was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal for “contribution to Australian society through opera and ballet”.
Susan has edited the complete works for violin and piano by the Australian composer Raymond Hanson, and has recorded these works with pianist David Miller for a CD to be released by the Tall Poppies label.
